[MD1] MacTech Magazine's Call for Editors

MACTECH MAGAZINE, CALL FOR EDITORS

March 4, 1999 --- MacTech Magazine, the journal for Macintosh
resident programmers and developers, is seeking to expand it's
editorial board. MacTech is looking for new contributing editors and
would like to hear from experienced programmers and developers
interested in contributing to the Macintosh development community.

What MacTech expects from contributing editors:
* Each contributing editor will help develop a focus area (a segment
of the development community that the editor will help to represent
on the editorial board). Current areas covered by MacTech include:

Mac OS X JavaTech(tm)
Cryptography I/O Technology
Database Development Game Technologies
Component System Development Palm OS Development
Linux Development Network Technologies

We're interesteded in expanding these areas to include new focus
areas, as well as adding additional editors to extend the coverage
of many of the areas we're already exploring.

* Editors are expected to actively research their area of the
community, to then present article ideas and identify potential
authors to the board (editors need not limit themselves to their
focus area, and are encouraged to identify and develop article ideas
outside of their beat as well).

* After article concepts are approved, contributing editors are
expected to act as primary contact for authors developing articles
in the CE's area and work with these authors to insure the submission
of the article to MacTech in a timely fashion.

* Contributing editors are expected to review articles before their
submission to MacTech. Editors should confirm that articles are
technically accurate, that they present the ideas of the article
in an engaging and informative manner, and that the articles meet
MacTech submission guidelines. Depending on the depth of the article,
technical review by other board members or specialists in the area
is available and contributing editors are encouraged to make use of
this resource.

* Attendence at conventions is optional, however contributing editors
who do attend Macworld and WWDC are expected to make an effort to
attend the MacTech Editorial dinner and to attempt to make themselves
available to potential authors at the MacTech pavillions.

* On a quarterly basis, MacTech reviews the contributions of members of
the editorial board. The contributions of editors in their area of
coverage is evaluated individually, but all contributing editors are
expected to see at least one article to publication each quarter.

What MacTech offers contributing editors:

* Editor's are paid on a per article basis. Compensation varies
depending on the fee paid the author, which in turn depends on
the strength of the topic, quality of the writing, and other
factors outlined in the MacTech writers guide (see website).

* Board Members are recognized on the masthead of the magazine, each
issue after their first article is printed.

* Editor's are extended complementary access to many industry
conferences and events.

* Joining the MacTech editorial board allows you to contribute to
the development community, develop valuable relationships within
it, and expand your own programming experiences.

If you are an experienced Macintosh resident programmer or developer,
and want to contribute to MacTech and the Macintosh developer
community, contact us at (mailto:editorial@mactech.com). Please
prefix the subject line of your eMail with "MTEditors".
