Yoto Mini review: A tiny, powerful, & endlessly...
Yoto Mini is a tiny, pocketable music player for kids and toddlers that shuns screens. While staying kid-friendly, it adds a surprising amount of tech for endless entertainment.
Yoto Mini review: The Yoto Mini goes with us everywhere
As music lovers, we want our children to experience it as we did. But options are a bit limited.
You can go with a smart speaker, but that isn't easily controllable for little ones. You can go vintage with a cassette or CD player to stay more low-tech, but they're breakable and also not kid-friendly.

Mark S may have no idea who Jake from State Farm is, but a new ad featuring the insurance company and Apple TV+ hit "Severance" brings them together.

Apple is known for its well-shot advertisements, especially the ones that air during the holidays, but those aren't the only ads featuring Apple products. The company works with carriers and resellers to promote iPhones, its other products, and sometimes, its services.
An ad shared by State Farm on Thursday places a newly severed Jamie S with Mark S, played by Adam Scott, on the Severed Floor featured in Apple TV+ drama "Severance." She's shown a video of her "outie...

Here’s how the iPhone 16e compares to iPhone 12, 13...
Brought to you by Uniq: Check out the new rugged cases from Uniq including the glow in the dark Combat Active iPhone case featuring a textured grip for ultimate control and a reflective lanyard. And the Stride SE, a high-performance Apple Watch sports band built tough with durable FKM.
Yesterday, Apple launched the new iPhone 16e, the cheapest new iPhone model in the lineup. It brings Apple Intelligence, Face ID, USB-C, the 48MP Fusion camera, and much more – all down to a starting price of just $599.
Obviously, the iPhone 16e is a noteworthy upgrade over the iPhone SE 3. However, there’s an easy comparison to be made to previous generation entry-level iPhones, such as the iPhone 12, 13, 14 and even iPhone 15 – for many great reasons. We’...

Apple only just revealed the C1 modem with iPhone 16e on Wednesday, but there's already a rumor about the C2 being tested internally.

Apple has spent years trying to distance itself from Qualcomm and use its own in-house modem. The company has finally landed on the C1 modem used in iPhone 16e, calling it a "platform for generations."
According to a report from MacRumors sourced from an accurate leaker that uses a private account on X, Apple is already working on the...

The custom modem in the iPhone 16e lays the groundwork for future Apple projects, as the company intends to use its proprietary modems across future products.
Apple says its C1 modem is just the start.
On Wednesday, Apple announced the entry-level iPhone 16e, with a relatively modest design echoing the iPhone 14. One of the device's stand-out features is an all-new in-house modem. Created and designed exclusively by Apple, it replaces previously used Qualcomm technology.

Apple Is Bringing Visual Intelligence To the iPhone...
Apple's Google Lens-like took called Visual Intelligence is coming to the iPhone 15 Pro, according to John Gruber of Daring Fireball. It's unclear which update will offer the feature but Gruber speculates it could arrive with iOS 18.4 in April. From a report: Visual Intelligence was originally introduced with the initial iPhone 16 lineup in September, and Apple showed it off as a feature that you launched from the Camera Control button. But yesterday, Apple announced that Visual Intelligence would be available on the iPhone 16E, which does not have the Camera Control button, through its Action Button.
That suggested that the feature could technically work with the iPhone 15 Pro, which also has an Action Button, and now Apple is confirming that Visual Intelligence will indeed come to that phone and be available via the Action Button. You'll also be able to launch Visual Intelligence from the Control Center on the iPhone 15 Pro, Apple told Gruber.

Apple says that you can use wireless Qi chargers with the iPhone 16e and it's true, but isn't MagSafe and that causes problems.
Apple can't come out and say wired charging is better than wireless, but it tried.
One of the compromises Apple made with making a lower-cost entry to the iPhone 16 range was to remove MagSafe. Apple is correct when it says you can still use wireless charging, but that's not the half of it.
If you have to use a Qi charger instead of MagSafe, it will take much longer and it will be so inefficient that it uses more power. And that's if you can be certain you have placed the iPhone 16e...

Apple, Lenovo lead losers in laptop repairability...
Apple and Lenovo had the lowest laptop repairability scores in an analysis of recently released devices from consumer advocacy group US Public Interest Research Group (PIRG) Education Fund. While Apple's low marks are partially due the difficulty involved in disassembling MacBooks, Lenovo appears to be withholding information from shoppers deemed critical to right-to-repair legislation and accessibility.
The report, US PIRG's fourth annual “Failing the Fix” [PDF], calculated repairability scores for PCs and smartphones from popular brands in the US. The report examines "the top 10 most recent devices from each brand that were available for sale directly from manufacturers in January 2025." If a brand's website didn't allow people to sort by newest release, US PIRG picked devices by sorting "by 'Bestselling' or...

Cybercriminals are ramping up their use of fake software updates to distribute malware, and Mac users are in the crosshairs with a new strain.

Researchers have identified two new threat actors, TA2726 and TA2727, who are using web inject campaigns to deliver malware. These actors use fake update lures — often presented as browser updates — to trick users into downloading harmful software, including a newly discovered macOS malware called FrigidStealer.
Historically, the threat actor TA569 and its SocGholish web injects dominated the fake update space, often leading to ransomware attacks. However, beginning in 2023, copycat actors began emerging, complicating efforts to track these threats.

Picking out an iPhone used to be easier—just get the newest one with all the storage you can afford. We still recommend buying as much storage as you can afford, but the choice of which iPhone isn’t quite so simple. Apple currently sells nine iPhone models, four of which launched in fall 2024, two in fall 2023, and one in February 2025. The most recent iPhone – the iPhone 16e – is a ‘budget’ version of the iPhone 16 and it’s introduction has completely changed the landscape as far as which iPhone to buy in 2025.
Those are the iPhones Apple sells, but you can still buy older refurbished models from the Apple Refurbished Store and elsewhere. Apple offers all this choice because, quite simply, different people have different priorities.
The best iPhone depends on your own personal preferences, so it’s not necessarily the case that the number one iPhone is the one you should buy. This group test of all the...

Estimating the cost to Apple of paying President Trump's import tariffs, Bank of America believes that a 9% price hike for the iPhone and all other devices, would prevent losses.
Apple CEO Tim Cook [left] with Donald Trump [right] at a Mac Pro factory
It's a fiction that other countries will pay tariffs, as instead all such costs will always be borne by US companies. In the case of Apple, it has previously earned an exemption — though not consistently — and it has tried to reduce the impact of tariffs by moving manufacturing to...

How to pre-order iPhone 16e on Friday
Macworld
Apple has introduced the iPhone 16e, a cheaper sibling to the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max that launched in September 2024. On Friday, February 21 the Apple Store will open for pre-orders, so that those who want a handset can race to place their order and then wait a week or so to receive the new handset which officially goes on sale on February 28.
Unfortunately, you are unlikely to be the only person pre-ordering a new iPhone. In our experience, a hesitation of only a few minutes can postpone the delivery of a device by days, if not weeks. In this article, we’ll help you get ready so that you can place your order quickly and be one of the first to get the new iPhone from Apple....

What does the e stand for in iPhone 16e?
The rumors turned out to be correct, even if most were styling it with a capital E rather than a lower-case one: the iPhone SE 4 is officially named the iPhone 16e.
One question is what the e stands for. Apple has often been vague about the meaning of suffices like S, R, and SE when appended to various iPhone models, but it did provide an answer this time …

iPhone 16e vs iPhone 16: Are the compromises worth $...
Macworld
The iPhone 16e is here and at $599 it is definitely not a budget iPhone. The iPhone 16e (for economic?) may not be a true iPhone SE replacement for those looking for a cheap iPhone, but it still costs significantly less than an iPhone 16, which starts at $799.
So two things are true at the same time: At $600, the iPhone 16e is in no way a budget model, but at $200 less than the regular iPhone 16, it’s clearly a value option. Is that extra $200 worth it? Apple has made a number of significant compromises, but they may be worth the savings for you.
We’re only highlighting the significant differences here—you can assume everything else is the same, or close enough not to...

iPhone 16e: The ‘e’ means everything
Macworld
It’s not every February we get an iPhone announcement–in fact, it’s rarely February. But rarely doesn’t mean never, and on Wednesday, Apple took the wraps off the iPhone 16e, a new model that brings cutting-edge internals to an older form factor.
But tempted as you might be to call the 16e the fourth-generation iPhone SE, this new model doesn’t precisely fit the mold. For one thing, this is the first time Apple is using this new lower-end iPhone to launch a brand new piece of technology. For another, this lower-cost iPhone isn’t exactly as low cost as its predecessors.
Suffice it to say, the iPhone 16e isn’t your parents’ iPhone SE. But after almost a decade of those models, Apple seems to be taking a slightly different tack this time around.
What’s in a letter?
The...

The new iPhone has launched, except the rumors were true and it’s known as the “iPhone 16e.” While not an update to the $429 iPhone SE, which was last updated in 2022, the new iPhone 16E will ship in a single size and cut $200 off the standard iPhone 16 starting price. Per Macworld, with […]

Can’t get iPhone Mirroring to work? Here’s what you...
Macworld
The iPhone Mirroring feature appeared with macOS Sequoia and lets you screen share your iPhone on a Mac in a way that’s never existed before. It’s like running a virtual version of your iPhone right there on the Desktop. However, you may encounter problems getting iPhone Mirroring to work because of the many requirements and settings.
Check the requirements
To use iPhone Mirroring, you need iOS 18 installed on your iPhone as well as Sequoia on your Mac. The Mac must be an Apple silicon model (M-series processor) or a later-generation Intel Mac with a T2 Security Chip. Fortunately, few Intel models that lack that chip can even run Sequoia, so you’re unlikely to come across that scenario.
You may be in any region except the European Union, where iPhone Mirroring is not...

Thoughts and Observations on Today’s iPhone 16e...
Last week Tim Cook teased a “newest member of the family” product announcement coming today; turns out it was the iPhone 16e, a device whose name briefly paralyzed me with indecision regarding how to capitalize it,1 which replaces the three-year-old iPhone SE (3rd generation) in the lineup.
The Announcement
Apple made the announcement in a 13-minute video that is currently atop their home page, but seemingly only perma-linkable at YouTube. (Maybe this?) It was also, of course, announced in...

More than a name change: iPhone 16e isn't the...
Apple didn't simply change the expected iPhone SE 4 name to iPhone 16e — they're distinct product lines and all the data points to a strategy shift.
iPhone 16e is here, and it's not the iPhone SE
We should have seen this coming. Every Apple-focused website saw Tim Cook's post on February 13 and assumed that it was an iPhone SE 4 reveal.
After all, almost all of the rumors for the last 18 months have called it the iPhone SE 4.

The new iPhone 16e, which was announced by Apple earlier today, features the A18 chip. In theory, this is the same chip that powers the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. However, as already reported by 9to5Mac, there is a slight difference in the chip inside the iPhone 16e, which suggests that Apple is using a binned chip in the less expensive model. But what exactly does this mean?

The new iPhone 16e is surely the right combination of prices and features to be a hit, but the iPhone SE range that it has replaced will always be special.

iPhone 16e vs iPhone 16: A new Apple Intelligence-...
Apple's update to the iPhone SE adds a new design and Apple Intelligence, as well as a new name: iPhone 16e. Here's how it compares to yesterday's budget option — the iPhone 16.
iPhone 16e [left], iPhone 16 [right]
Arriving just shy of three years after the third-generation iPhone SE, the newly-rebranded iPhone 16e has arrived as the new entry-level model for consumers. This is a major modernization effort, with a new design and a considerable specifications bump to match modern smartphones.
With the introduction of a new low-cost smartphone on Apple's roster, this leaves consumers wondering if they should get it instead of the slightly more expensive iPhone 16.

Apple Events 2025: When is the next Apple Event?
Macworld
Apple doesn’t participate in big industry-wide events such as CES or E3. The most valuable company in the world holds its own events, thank you very much. Several times a year, Apple invites the press and industry professionals to Apple Park to hear all about its latest products and services. Apple calls these ‘events,’ and streams them live online to millions of watchers.
UPDATE: Apple is expected to update the iPad and iPad Air soon. Our best guess is that it will do so by press release between March 15 and March 28. If it holds an event, that could take place on March 18.
So far in 2025 Apple hasn’t held any events, however, it did launch a new iPhone via press release on February 19. Read all about the iPhone 16e here.
In 2024, Apple held three events: one on Tuesday, May 7,...

iPhone 16e: Everything you need to know about Apple’...
Macworld
The iPhone 16e is Apple’s most affordable model in the iPhone lineup. It replaces both the iPhone 14 and the iPhone SE and is a departure from the “classic” design of those older SE phones. Here’s everything you need to know about the new phone:
From iPhone SE to iPhone 16e: Name change
With the release of the iPhone 16e, Apple dropped the iPhone SE from its lineup. Apple has not given any reasons for the name change but it indicates that Apple will perform annual updates to the “e” model.
New iPhone 16e price: How much does the iPhone 16e cost?
- The iPhone 16e starts at $599/£599
While the iPhone 16e is Apple’s cheapest iPhone, its price is higher than the iPhone SE replaced. Here is a chart of how the iPhone 16e compares to previous iPhone SE models.

Google has announced that it's bringing a new feature to iPhone that enables users to quickly search while browsing the web or watching videos.

Screen Search is, effectively, the iOS version of Circle to Search, which was released to select premium Android smartphones over a year ago.
The feature is designed to give users a much more convenient way to search content they're actively engaging with. Instead of switching screens to open up a search engine, users can simply circle the thing they're interested in to launch a Google search.

Apple Launches the iPhone 16E, With In-House Modem...
Apple has launched the iPhone 16E, featuring a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, an A18 chipset, USB-C, 48MP camera, and support for Apple Intelligence. Gone but not forgotten: the home button, Touch ID and 64GB of base storage. The Verge reports: The 16E includes the customizable Action Button, but not the new Camera Control you'll find on the 16 series. It does swap its Lightning port for USB-C, now a requirement for the phone to be sold in the EU. On the inside, there's an A18 chipset, the same chip as the iPhone 16. That makes the 16E powerful enough to run Apple Intelligence, the suite of AI tools that includes notification summaries. Even the non-Pro iPhone 15 can't do that, so the 16E is one of the most capable iPhones out there. Apple has previously confirmed that 8GB RAM was the minimum to get Apple Intelligence support in the iPhone 16 series, so it's likely that the 16E also boasts at least that much memory. It's also been bumped to a baseline of 128GB of storage, meaning...
